Pros

You will develop an unrealistic/unsustainable work ethic and understand how to handle getting beat up over things way outside of your control.

Cons

“Drink the Kool-Aid” was something I heard frequently. Very top-heavy organization and the comp structure is terrible. If you are making good money, you’re probably working constantly and on the verge of a heart attack. The only thing I seemed to be working for was a trip to Mexico for hitting “contest”. Constant stress as your income depends on unreliable contractors showing up for work and the performance of your recruiters. The half-desk model is not a great system. On the recruiting side, trying to convince someone to leave their permanent position for a contract, or the “permanent” model, contract to hire, is manipulative and never made me feel good. Micromanaging is present in every breath you take. You must hit the metrics otherwise you will hear about it everyday. If you don’t make a single placement, but you’re hitting your numbers, it’s no big deal. It seems as though if metrics are being hit, Directors get paid. If they are able to convince someone to take hourly pay for the first 13 weeks of their career, don’t expect to see them for long. People constantly leaving and they STRUGGLE hiring anyone with common sense. I hate to trash on Aston Carter so hard as there are some really amazing people that work there, but all in all, just a toxic corporate culture where you will have NO work/life balance. Everything seems to be outside of your control, but you are treated as if you are the puppeteer.

Pros

Great communication with you and the clients

Cons

Sometimes it is a long wait for a position or client. So, not super reliable mode of income.

Pros

Aston Carter provided excellent opportunities for professional growth, career progression, and leadership development. I had the opportunity to work with some of the largest healthcare and insurance clients in the country, build strong client relationships, and lead high-performing teams. The company offers strong training, a collaborative culture, and a performance-driven environment where hard work is recognized and rewarded. I was fortunate to work alongside talented colleagues and supportive leaders who helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Cons

Like many staffing and recruiting organizations, the environment can be fast-paced and demanding, with a strong focus on metrics and performance goals. Work-life balance can be challenging during peak periods, and processes can sometimes vary between offices or leadership teams. However, these challenges also create opportunities for growth and development.
