Pros

I worked on the business side at Atera and that included assisting with some of the owner's other activities located in the same real estate. Most of my professional experiences (other than as described under "cons") with my co-workers, especially the front of house staff were very positive. In addition, working with the executive chefs was highly educational and inspirational.

Cons

The owner is a dishonest and narcissistic individual. Two examples of her behavior show what I mean: In the first, she provided misleading information about the real estate where Atera is located to a real estate firm. When the firm questioned the information and tried to independently verify it, the owner flew into a rage while asserting how wrong it was for the third party to question her integrity. She then refused to work with the real estate firm any longer. In the second, she talked about how she had worn hidden recording devices to certain meetings. She said she was hoping to catch the person she was meeting with lying...like this was normal way to do business.

Chef de Cuisine Erin Paterson, lacks empathy to others and has definitely zero knowledge about leadership.

Pros

Work with high quality ingredients.

Cons

Ronny and his management team were some of the most toxic I’ve worked with in my career. 14 hr shifts in windowless rooms with terrible pay. Ronny would be at the gym all day then come in for family meal and service. Chefs there completely lacked empathy, patience or willingness to transmit techniques or ideas. They would expect people to pick right up on the hundreds of mise en place with no proper training. They would get angry and aggressive if you were struggling with something on your station. Literally the worst job I’ve ever had was working there . Many other places in the city to hone your craft. Avoid these toxic people.
