Pros

A good job to gain experience and the ability to give back to the community. The main pro of the job was the happiness of clients and customers we served every day. The pay was a little on the low end, but that is to be expected with Non-Profit Organizations. Other than that, there really were not any benefits or room for advancement.

Cons

Small Raises, not much successful communication with management. After a few meetings concerning theft, issues involving employees, and issues that just were repetitive, it dawned on me that I needed to search elsewhere. There was a high stress level concerning training done by old management and previous lower level management. After being promoted, previous lower level management that was promoted to higher level management, abandoned training and everything they trained us on. Also long time customers were given discounted or free merchandise (which is an example of what I had learned from previous management) after promotion long time customers would get upset and argumentative when they weren't given what they wanted for free.

Pros

Atlanta Mission helps many men and women facing homelessness and addiction. The Mission's shelters are run well in my opinion, and you can sense God working there and transforming lives.

Cons

Unfortunately, some of their thrift stores are much better than others. They raise money through the receiving of household donations and selling them in their thrift stores. The staff in some stores need to change. I have overheard staff members complaining about customers, their boss and even bosses that are no longer there. I'm sure customers have heard these things. I'm not sure if the thrift stores are being as well as they could be. I find a better atmosphere shopping our competitor than in some of our own stores. Senior leadership does not come across as a unified team.
