Pros

You are a completely independent contractor. You are able to be your own boss.

Cons

No Benefits. Only 1099 employment. The company will make a lot of promises that will just not be true. If there are issues management will not even respond to emails or contact attempts to resolve. You will have to spend a considerable amount of money (around $2000 in my case) for required equipment and materials. The company will not reimburse you for this as your an independent contractor. They don't pay travel time below a specified limit (50 mi,) so you do not get paid for travel as they will rarely offer you work over that limit.

Atlas International Technology Services is a growing company that provides IT solutions to clients throughout the United States. With this growth, we have streamlined processes in order to have more efficient communications with all of our technicians. As a Field Networking Technician, you are a 1099 subcontractor who we dispatch for service requests, which means that you are required to have your own tools and materials to complete the work orders. Below is a list of required tools and materials. Materials Cat5e UTP (250)  Rj-45/48x jacks (Quantity 25) Smallest bag  In line DSL filters  Flush Mount Jacks of all types  RJ-11 Jacks & Connectors  Pre-built loopback plugs (T1, Ethernet)  NID Splitters (1) Tools Windows based Laptop  Apple or Android Smart Phone (to take pictures)  Label maker  Cordless Drill  66 & 110 Punch Down Tool  RJ45/RJ-11Crimping Tool  LAN, RJ11 Cat5/6 Cable Tester  Toner & Butt Set  Torpedo Level  Cisco Console Cable  8’ Little Giant Step Ladder Minus the cost of phone, laptop, and ladder, which most technicians already have, total cost to get started should be around $250.00. Most Materials used on the job can be turned in for expense reimbursement. Technicians are dispatched based on their location and availability.

Pros

I've worked at Atlas for 3 years now and have had no issues. While their processes were cumbersome to begin with, I was able to get the procedure down in short order. I have had none of the problems that others complain about. I have NEVER not been paid for a job. As long as you follow directions and turn in the required documentation on time, Techs have no issues.

Cons

I really can't think of any.
