Pros

LGBTQ+ Inclusion. Some good people to work with. Provides Free Pizza at times.

Cons

At Aussie Broadband, Sales is not a good place to start at the company. The Sales Management team plays favourites and loves to micromanage to look good to their superiors, and will throw you under the bus if it looks like their job is at risk. I had a doctor's note with a sprained ankle, and the Residential Sales Manager begged me to work from home, so I did, and further damaged the sprain when I should have been resting. If you're sick, the TL's will ask you what's wrong with you to tell the managers later. Bathroom breaks are recorded as well as lunch breaks. If you are a few minutes late coming back to your desk, you will be told off quite seriously in front of your team members. Team leaders and senior management expect you to be at your desk ready for calls by your start time without remuneration for arriving early and leaving late. Overtime was rarely given and was met with disdain when asked about it. The night team is particularly a problem. Team Leaders are not very experienced, and they're hired due to longevity rather than capability. If a customer is being particularly rude on the phone, the Team Leaders will never step in to mediate. I have seen staff cry due to difficult customers and have to leave their desks, and the Team Leaders tell them to be back in 10 minutes. Some staff members on the night team are particularly violent and have threatened multiple staff members at times. The Residential Sales Manager treats them as favourites because of their shared love of the same music genre, and everything gets swept under the rug because they are constantly high on the Sales Leaderboard. I was personally threatened multiple times by a member of the Inbound Sales Team Night staff, and every time I tried to write a letter to HR, the Residential Sales Manager said it was wise to let it go. Senior management can be very rude if medical emergencies occur, and are very dismissive of issues related to health. I was personally told, even though I had my gallbladder taken out and had complications from surgery, that the Residential Sales Manager's wife had the same surgery and was fine, so I should be fine. My last interaction with my old manager was when he scoffed in disbelief on the phone when he heard I had a new job. The pay is just OK with commission, but the KPI's you have to meet as staff are constantly changing, so it's confusing to keep up at times with what the targets are. The Level 2 I had on the night team was particularly bad at helping with support, and I received little to no training from them when I was working there, as they would put their face in their hands every time I asked a question. Also, the Level 2 on the night team, as soon as the main Senior Management left at 5:00 pm, would leave his desk to talk to the Team Leader all night, leaving the staff with no support and having to figure it out on their own. I wouldn't recommend ABB to anyone I know unless it's in a higher position, as the frontline staff are treated like dirt, even though they're the face of the company and lining the pockets of senior management. The ABB phrase "Be good to people" is thrown out the window when it comes to their own staff.

Pros

Some of the people are great. You can meet really awesome people and lifelong friends here. A good opportunity for a job if you’re desperate.

Cons

You aren’t allowed to have an opinion, unless it’s in agreement with your manager. You aren’t allowed to be upset about anything unless your manager is also upset about it. If you try to seek support from your manager, they will tell you that you’re being difficult and hang up on you (literally). Micro management is at an all time high. They don’t let you simply do your job, they have to comment on absolutely everything, even down to what you’re wearing for the day. When even the man who built the company says it’s a goner and a horrible place to work and that he is glad he moved on. That says something.

Pros

LGBTQ inclusive, disability inclusive Lots of opportunities for career advancement

Cons

The role on seek says opportunities for part time and work at home, but they offer none of those things. Full time, or nothing. They dont take your complaints seriously. Many employees come in smelling like they havent had a shower in 3 weeks. Every bathroom has Deodorant in it. Yet every time I need to complain they would get them to wear Deodorant, but the problem would persist 10 more times with nothing being done. Imagine trying to focus on a customer when 1m away you smell hot garbage. Theres one female TL that talks to you like a child. Everyone who works there will know who "S" is. she loves to micromanage everything you do, especially when you aren't even on her team. You can show up every day early for 3 years straight, and the one day you are 5 minutes late you get scolded like a child
