Pros
- Some of the smartest people I have worked with, and recently have brought on some truly incredible / talented people
- There is definitely a passion here to improve health care, and after a rough patch in 2018, we are more focused and ramping up revenue
- Freedom to choose and execute on technology choices
- The engineering team is starting to find its stride at outputting new features / addressing technical debt
Cons
- CEO's background is consulting, so arguing to invest in strong engineering practices takes more effort than if CEO were more technical, e.g. promising too many features to clients for the current team size to handle
- A bit of a bias toward "elite" schools and having more degrees or prior research experience sometimes hinders ability to make the right hire
- Workspace is shared
- Work / life balance could be better
