Pros
-Good opportunities to build up entry-level technical skills as well as soft skills. As a computer service/network technician, you get your hands on a number of different types of routers, switches, PCs, and other basic devices.
-Large clientele, and enough work to keep a contractor busy. You will get to meet many faces from C Level executives to the bossy and cranky receptionist, as well as the skeptical VP
-Occasionally, employer will pay for lunch/dinner
Cons
-The work that was done for Avert Network Services were tendered as Sub-Contracted. Despite working five days a week with eight hour-shifts (sometimes longer). This kind of practice is discouraged in a professional firm and should be avoided at all costs.
-In addition to being subcontracted, there were no health benefits.
-Technician was responsible for his/her own vehicle. No company vehicle for this service company, and the owner failed to reimburse for parts purchased for service orders.
-Management was unorganized, I often wasted my time driving between places back and forth, due to error of the dispatcher.
