Pros
Great experience for entry level counselors. Amazing benefits, free supervision and CEUs, generous PTO, and new team lead is very focused on self-care and dedicated to helping all clinicians make incentive bonuses. If you feel the need for mental health days, just ask and you’ll receive them. If you’re extroverted, it’s a great place to be and has a family-like feel to the office. The employees love to laugh, host drug reps and catered lunches, and band together in solving problems. The Gainesville Adult Outpatient Office is truly one of a kind and dedicated to making a positive difference with SPMI, while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of employees. We have amazing connections with community resources and a lot of pull within the community. The clients are truly grateful for the variety services we provide.
Cons
We all wish the pay was better, but you get what you get when you work for the state. Same goes for paperwork. There’s a ton of it but if you can get a rhythm to it, you can make it happen in 40 hour weeks. Audits can be a real pain but are 100% passable with good work ethic. Some may say the “hectic, face paced, chaos” can be draining but if you enjoy being busy then this is a place to consider. Plus, if you leave for private practice it will feel like a vacation in comparison.
