Pros

West Bloomfield has updated facilities, and a lot of interactive experiences for kids and instructors. Parents are kind and understanding at this location, organized if overbearing management. The hiring management in Birmingham has no music background, so it's a really easy gig to land for instructors.

Cons

Birmingham location hasn't been updated in 10+ years. Parents are some of the worst people I've had the displeasure of interacting with. The owner refuses to communicate with anyone unless it's to ask staff to not pay their bills during the initial COVID shutdown. Admin is expected to work 40+ hours each week, and attempts will be made to not pay overtime. The Birmingham location is a revolving door in terms of office staff because no upgrades are made and scheduling is incredibly difficult due to the lack of proper resources and space, angering already unreasonable and entitled clients. Additionally, the owner refuses to allow management any authority, lending to unchecked problems like inventory going unstocked and broken instruments with no fixes because he's unreliable and refuses contact with anyone. There's effectively no training for instructors. Good luck. This company relies on instructors to take over administrative jobs after everyone else quits because their ties to their students will keep them from leaving. If you like being treated like a doormat and paid at the lowest hiring rate in the company's history, become an instructor at Axis Music Academy.

Pros

If you're looking for a job teaching music in a supportive and positive environment, this job is for you! Unlike a lot of the other music schools I worked at before this, I get the support and flexibility that I need, whether it is a scheduling issue or access to educational materials for the students. The administrative staff works diligently to ensure that the teachers' time is valued. The students I have gotten through the academy are some of the most fun and engaged children I have ever had the experience of working with, and my adult students are committed and open minded. The other teachers are a joy to work alongside with.

Cons

My monthly schedule can sometimes fluctuate, but that's to be expected when you are working with busy families.

Pros

I've had the privilege of being a part of the Axis team for the past decade, and I can confidently say that it has been an incredibly enriching and satisfying journey. The fact that many of our dedicated instructors have been here for almost as long is a testament to the exceptional work environment this company offers. Axis exudes warmth and camaraderie, fostering a supportive atmosphere among its staff. The compensation package is notably competitive within our industry, underscoring the company's commitment to valuing its employees. What truly stands out is the long-term commitment of our students, many of whom have been enrolled for seven to eight years. This longevity speaks volumes about the quality of service they receive from our staff and the consistently high standard of music education they enjoy week after week. Working here has been a source of immense pride and professional growth for me, and I look forward to many more rewarding years at Axis.

Cons

The hours of operation are absolutely perfect for me, however, I know that there have been some people who love the job but prefer morning hours rather than afternoons/evenings. This may be due to having children or just the preference of working a more traditional 9-5 schedule.
