Pros

- Great work/life balance: nobody works past 6pm, summer Fridays year round and a good chunk of Jewish holidays (but if you are hourly you are not paid for them unless you use your PTO, not cool) - Great job security, they avoid firing unless you are really bad at your job. - Depending on your team - nice and friendly colleagues, often very good knowledge base. My manager is supportive and within my team I feel trusted and valued. - Store discounts.

Cons

- No career growth unless you actively fight for it, no mentorship or desire to learn. - Often a feeling of distrust from higher management: all employees must clock in and out every day, even if you are salaried, an illogical, distrusting and antiquated habit. - Cracking down on WFH even though pandemic WFH exceeded expectations and the company did extremely well. Lost a huge number of valuable and incredibly talented employees to this and haven't fully recovered but still insisting. - Salaries are below market average - The office computers are hampered by strict and prohibitive filtering software, no wifi to laptops, extreme security both in office and working remotely, so much so that your productivity is affected. - Women are scrutinized for dress code, feeling watched and judged all the time. - Office facilities are old and depressing. - Diversity depending on the team and floor but generally very white and Jewish.

Pros

Excellent coworkers with a good sense of camaraderie. Long breaks due to mandated Jewish holidays. Small benefits for discounted store purchases and occasional free lunches. Layoffs are virtually unheard of.

Cons

Abysmal flexibility and work/life balance. Unremarkable compensation. Utterly incompetent leadership from the very top to middle management. Convoluted and unclear team structure. No clear path to career growth. Religious and gender discrimination and nepotism. Suspicious and childlike treatment of all employees. Inadequate time off policies (no sick days or personal days, only 3 weeks of PTO a year). Absolute disdain for any remote work. Many Hasidic employees display poor interpersonal skills and struggle to communicate politely in English. Conflicting and nonsensical messaging from leadership. A tendency to punish every employee for the misdeeds of individuals, rather than allowing managers to manage.
