Pros
Friendly and likeable staff, at least in my office. I have a job that provides varied work with ranging levels of difficulty which i find to suit me down to the ground. i managed to progress, only due to the efforts of my manager.
Cons
the shipyard runs as though it was a Victorian era company. managers, who to be quite frank have little to zero people skills, that for some bizarre reason have this idea that barking orders gets things done. the pay for me is okay as i am in a staff role, and only 24, but progression is heavily favoured to those who "know's someone" or their dad is senior. and for god sake can the union's calm down ??? people don't need sacking for minor reasons. one last gripe, and in no way, shape or form am i sexist but promotions heavily favour the woman due to the industry being male dominated. this can lead to unsuitable people being promoted into a position they are not ready for.
