Pros

Fair salary with shared tips

Cons

1. More than 12 hour shifts with 1 hour break. (Not sure if it is legal in UK) 2. Always under staffed 3. They made you work more hours than in your contract and tell you they can’t pay you more than in the contract like it’s our fault to work overtime. 4. Very rude management / team leaders 5. Doesn’t care about employees health 6. They don’t train you what to do and expect you to know everything.

Pros

Nothing, I have to give a 5 words response. It pays a tiny bit more than other restaurants.

Cons

The restaurant is often understaffed, largely because of cost-cutting, which means employees are frequently expected to cover the workload of two people with very little support. The pace is extremely intense. Lateness by 2 minutes is not acceptable, but if starting 5 minutes earlier you are not paid for the 5 minutes. Ridiculous. There is a high turnover, due to everything mentioned here. Management can also be frustrating. Requests from staff do not always seem to be taken seriously unless they are directly linked to sales, and some managers contribute little beyond giving instructions. Scheduling is another issue. Even when staff communicate unavailability well in advance, they may still be put on shifts and then expected to attend. Finally, the staff food policy is poor compared with other restaurants I have worked in. In many places, employees are given a free meal during their shift, whereas Bao only offers staff a 50% discount.

Pros

Discount on a few good restaurants

Cons

Extremely disorganised and chaotic. Under-staffed and management does nothing to fix it. Don't bother working here. They don't care about you, they just care about trying to make money.
