Pros

Great Building and Location. Stable industry. They had the potential to be an industry leader in terms of Software Development.

Cons

Promotions are sometimes given without salary increases, or without market related salary increases. Immature and reactive upper management. Management do not apply themselves consistently and fairly across all teams, your progress at the company is often determined by after hours socializing and drinks with management. They offer no carreer development. They use older technology stacks. Developers are expected to perform additional roles like Support and Deployments, after hours and on weekends. High attrition rate, older and new staff leave regularly with the company having a "non retention approach" Achievements are not celebrated. No medical aid benefit. The company culture is really poor as it currently promotes segregation rather than collaboration.

Good learning exposure at an early career stage (if you can tolerate the environment).

Cons

My experience at Betsoftware was unfortunately very negative. The work environment is highly toxic, driven by extreme micromanagement rather than trust or accountability. Management style relies heavily on intimidation—team members are bullied in meetings and implicitly or explicitly threatened when they try to speak up or challenge decisions. There is clear favouritism within management. Promotions and opportunities appear to be based on personal relationships rather than performance or merit, which is deeply demotivating for employees who work hard and deliver results. The constant pressure, fear-based leadership, and lack of psychological safety have a real impact on people’s health. Many employees become frequently ill or burned out due to ongoing stress. Concerns raised are not genuinely addressed, as management tends to protect one another rather than acknowledge or resolve issues. I would not recommend this company to anyone who values their mental health, wellbeing, or professional growth.
