Pros

- Colleagues are wonderful and hardworking

Cons

- Senior management are predominantly stacked with people with business degrees from the 1980s with no clear vision for the company beyond getting tuition fees from students - Poor payment and decreasing benefits with less hybrid working - Will hire people at senior positions with little prior experience working in higher education, meaning key decisions are made by people wildly out of their depth - Senior management unable to successfully liaise with investors, meaning those in the lower rungs will bare the brunt of poor decisions to assuage wild promises of severely increased student recruitment - Palpable anti-union sentiment from senior management

Pros

Mostly great people working at campus level who are friendly and work tremendously hard. Brilliant collaboration across teams. Campus is a nice place to work.

Cons

Utterly appalling upper management who are invisible, out of touch and have no idea how much effort, time and passion goes into running things and supporting our students. We were constantly being stripped of resources and staff and were constantly fire fighting as a result. HR are mostly crap and bullying goes unchecked. Grievances are a waste of time. The HR team have no emotional intelligence whatsoever. Pay is rubbish compared to other universities and the annual review process that might (if you're lucky) get you a 1% pay rise is complete nonsense. Last year those of us who scored excellently and were due a pay increase were then downgraded because the company "couldn't afford" to give us all the pay increase we had earned. Morale is crap and people leave in swaithes. No opportunity for progression. Do not work here.

Pros

Most of the staff are lovely and working with passionate students is a bonus.

Cons

We are all paid around £10,000 less than other universities, colleges etc… Some incompetent staff are given higher positions and skive off, miss deadlines take advantage of the company and don’t care about the negative consequences on the staff or students.
