Pros
I've worked at BMW for over 5 years and have enjoyed my time very much. There is a lot of opportunity to grow and develop within the company, especially if you have a qualified manager. Other pros include: - Great company lease program, allows an opportunity to enjoy the products at a greatly reduced rate - Potential to work abroad in Germany or other locations (China, South Africa, Oxford, etc.) - Chance to learn and use German on a daily basis - Passionate employees who care about the products that they produce - Good amount of job security (this can also be a con) - Decent benefits (health, retirement, annual bonus)
Cons
As mentioned above, high job security leads to some less than stellar employees who have been with the company past their expiration date. Some are unmotivated and sap the groups that they are in. The company could also improve the overall quality of the management, with a focus on developing people more. I have been very fortunate to have experienced and caring managers throughout my career, however not everyone is so lucky. Additionally, the company does not seem to emphasize continued education, at least in the traditional sense of graduate degrees. They do value practical experience and on-the-job learning. This is evident in the pitiful continued education financial support policy.
