Pros
It's very easy to look like a star employee at BT, primarily because the bar is set so low.
Cons
Incompetent management. From the top down (Allison at CEO down to C band) management is filled almost exclusively with people who don't produce anything tangible and are technically illiterate. Organisational policy. BTs policy has taken a shift towards removing worker benefits and putting blockers in place to hiring good workers. Currently in BT digital a role must be opened in India and proven that no-one in that region can meet the minimum job criteria before it can be opened in the UK, along with teams located across the globe being pushed (without any justification) to go to their office 3 days a week. This has resulted in a lack of progression opportunities for UK colleagues and the overall atrophy of talent in teams. Instability. Re-orgs at BT happen every 6-9 months, are decided by people with little to no on the ground experience, and details are not communicated until the re-orgs is enacted. This constant state of flux is very detrimental to innovation and best practice. Progression and talent. Although mentioned above, the lack of progression opportunities and talented coders in BT needs it's own section. This is not a company to work at if you are looking to progress technically, as within a year you will likely be the technical expert in an area with no-one to learn from.
