Wage theft, insurance fraud, nepotism. They will love bomb you during your first few months, then be passive aggressive when you set boundaries later. Both adult children work for their father who is one of the owners. The adult children will ask you to buy their father Christmas gifts and the HR department will tell you this is how you show your gratitude for your job. But it's not really an HR department bc the HR department won't help with anything. In the interview they will tell you you will get health insurance but when you ask how to put money from your paycheck into your FSA the "HR" department will tell you, "we don't help with that. You will need to figure that out on your own."
You are be employed by Backstreet but contracted to work for another much larger company. You will be paid 100% less than the other contractors the bigger company hires. Backstreet will blame the other company for the low pay and act like they weren't the ones who set the pay for the contract in the first place. There are no raises here and no room for growth, zero.
I have never worked for a company that was so out of touch or void of human compassion. The family puts the family first and only the family. If you assert your rights as an employee in any way, they will ignore you and act like you dont work there, even when you are still employed. This includes illegal canceling your health insurance before your last day of work.
The company they contracted with was great to work for and was a great stepping stone, but Backstreet will not allow you to convert to a full time employee, which is not how contracting typically works. Backstreet will talk down about the other company and do their best to drive a wedge between you and the other company and then act like the
other company is at fault.
If you need tech writing experience, this is a remote position, and if you can push through for a year it's a great stepping stone, but this is not somewhere I would recommend staying long term unless you like really low pay with no raise in site and manipulative bosses.
