Out of touch and void of human compassion - Technical Writer BackStreet Media Employee Review

First I'd like to thank this writer for their opinion on their time at BackStreet Media. The saddest part of this for us is this former employee didn't express any of this during employment or after they left. This saddens me because we are a very open company who does not shy away from trying to be better. I'd like to respond to a few of the claims made in this review because I feel it's important to understand there is some disagreement. In response to wage theft, we made it very clear we encourage a work/life balance and to stay at 40 hours per week. If an employee chooses to go over that to assist a customer, they are given comp time (to take at their discretion) to make up for the extra time. We are a small business that does have certain people in multiple positions, such as management and HR, but that does not mean we do not care about our employees. All of our FSA and insurance is done through our insurance company, but we do have an in house person that is the liaison between the insurance company and the employee, so you can work with them to get any of your questions answered without have to "figure it out on your own". We have never cancelled a person's health insurance before their employment ended, unless expressly asked to do so. We are not a typical contract company, we do work for many different companies, not just one company. The majority of our customers come to us because they do not want to hire additional people. This is told to employees before they start, because in a small business you can't afford high turnover and expect to survive. In this case this employee did do work for 1 company specifically, but that didn't mean that couldn't have changed in the future. The position this person worked for did have limited growth potential, and again that is expressed in all interviews as well. The fact that they stated there are no raises is not true, along with quarterly bonuses, we have been giving larger than standard raises to account for the difficult standard of living changes going on in our environment. This is a remote position, so there is flexibility which the company that this employee did work for, would not have given this employee. We strive for excellence at BackStreet Media, and I'm truly sorry that this reviewer felt this way after leaving. People move on in life and change careers often, this is very normal. I feel we are very open with our employees, and treat them with respect. If they bring forward issues, we do our best to resolve them, or do what we can to make it the best work environment possible. No one forced this employee to come work for us, they decided the pay was fair and stayed for over 2 years at least for some reasons I'd like to believe. By the end of this employees employment they were no longer happy to be at this company and I wish them the best going forward. I also hope they never have to feel the need to write a review that in my opinion is mostly anger with little truth to it, just to make a company look look bad.
