Pros
I can't think of anything other than gear discounts.
Cons
Some people seem surprised by the latest news of lay offs, high turnover, and unhappy employees. The only thing surprising is that anyone is surprised by that at this point. I haven't worked there in a decade, but it was the same back then, and when I talked to people who had been there 5+ years before me they told the same stories of a lousy place to work, so we're talking 15 years of this being the norm. The best marketing campaigns Backcountry has run are the ones that convince people it's a good place to work who cares about its employees. Poor management, low pay, high turnover, zero work-life balance (despite their posts showing them taking employees skiing and such). Two thumbs way down.
