Pros

Overtime is not a constant once you're knowledgeable. There are some genuinely helpful staff. Company will last at least another 10 years cos cheques and giro payments are hard to kill off for corporates. Management has started to explore initiatives to bring the company forward, though they forgot to think of the load on the manpower.

Cons

Extremely clear boundaries set between departments in addition to blame culture ensures that initiatives to bring the company forward are always met with a lot of inertia. Unless you can get someone at the top to push things, the initiative is bound to get rejected. Too much politics is involved. There are some people people that should have been left by the way side but are still in the company making things hard for their own team. Management will pretend to close 2 eyes since it is not affecting them. Did I say blame culture? Yes, let me explain. Management - right from the low level to the top - are more interested to find out who caused the problem than how to solve the problem. Pinpointing the culprit comes first, solving the problem comes later. With this kind of culture, who will want to take on new responsibilities? Expect staff to use own phone to do things but some departments don't have phone allowance while other departments do.

Pros

Offices located in housing estates away from CBD and so you can get cheaper food and can avoid the lunch-hour rush

Cons

Toxic work culture where every department work in silos, afraid of taking ownership and fearing blame. Prevailing micromanagement in many teams make things worse. Limited learning opportunities as tech stack is limited. Heavily process oriented with many processes introduced without proper assessment drastically affecting productivity and morale. Efforts are rarely recognized. If you curry favour your boss, regardless of the pain he is causing everyone, you will be recognized.

Pros

Great management and a highly collaborative team environment. Leadership is genuinely open to innovation and continuous improvement, making it easy to pitch and execute new ideas. There are abundant learning opportunities, a strong emphasis on teamwork, and a vibrant, fun workplace culture.

Cons

While the hours can be long during peak times, the work itself is highly fulfilling and the opportunities for growth make it worth the effort.
