Pros

My co-workers on my unit as well as my direct supervisors and manager are phenomenal. I couldn't ask for a better team to work with.

Cons

Banner Corporate/Benefits: My family and I moved to AZ from out of state. In researching where I would like to work, I came across Banner Health and saw that they were the biggest hospital system in the Phoenix area. Once I was hired and attended orientation, I was excited. This seemed like a GREAT place to work for. Banner appeared to be a company that is all about supporting it's employees. Almost like a family. When signing up for benefits for my family, I found I was unable to do so. There was an error in Banner's system and we had to wait 2 weeks for it to be corrected. Once corrected I signed up and faxed my dependant paperwork in. A couple weeks later I received an email saying my dependants were denied due to dependant paperwork not being turned in. When I called they said it was too late and I would have to appeal. They told me it would take 30 days to receive an answer. I pleaded with them and wrote my appeal letter. I have 2 small children and a husband with chronic health issues. We couldn't be without insurance. We just found out the appeal was denied. Not only do my dependants not have coverage, I feel completely betrayed by this company that was supposed to be so great to work for. How could a company treat their employees like this? Over a small technicality, they leave my family without health insurance benefits. This is NOT a company that is supportive of their employees. I am ashamed to say I work for Banner Health.

Pros

This review isn't about the pros of working for Banner Medical Group.

Cons

The last couple of years with BMG, many current and former leaders have encountered ongoing challenges related to the senior leadership team's (Ops Directors and above) behavior and accountability. Expectations and disciplinary actions are not applied consistently, and when disciplinary actions are applied, it is retaliatory for speaking up about these inconsistencies. This has created a culture of distrust and fear between the clinic leadership teams and Ops Directors/Senior Ops Directors. It also goes against Banner's "If you see something, say something" campaign. The HR team has also contributed to the growing fear and distrust by not following their own guidelines, and by the ERC's showing their bias against leaders through their tone of voice when talking with you, baseless accusations against leadership, and approving corrective actions that are vague and missing specific details of the incident that someone is being written up for. It also raises concerns amongst clinic leaders when multiple leaders bring forward the same concerns and issues about Ops Directors over a lengthy period of time and we're told, "we couldn't corroborate your concerns." And when multiple leaders provide ample evidence (Chronological Management Records, Teams chats, email chains, etc.) to disprove these false accusations and you're still placed into corrective action, the word corruption starts to become applicable.
