Pros

Bartenders are great people. They're around 30 for the most part, and mature enough to maintain great work relationships.

Cons

The servers are so inexperienced it's laughable. The company's dynamic is so bar-reliant that it creates a culture of abuse and exploitation to the point where the restaurant almost operates like street gangs constantly battling for respect. Management......As of this moment, there are literally zero managers assigned to the restaurant. They bring in managers like one would change underwear. Communication is impossible in this situation. As a result, no one ever really has a clear idea of what is actually going on. Case and point: an employee was on vacation, and upon return learned that they were left off the schedule, due to management removing the task of scheduling from the wine steward but not bothering to get availability. Bartaco is a great concept run by a band of fools and they can't keep their leaders who actually know how to lead because their reputation as a successful restaurant has lead to them forgetting the people they employ are people. There is also no incentive to be a bartender or bar manager at Bartaco. It is a HUGE paycut from serving tables, and the increase in headache is just not worth it. The servers are not only allowed but encouraged to walk over the bartenders. Bartenders are physically beat down every shift, with absolutely zero acknowledgement from any area of the restaurant. Their job and skillset is well above the servers - who by the way don't take orders, don't run drinks, don't split checks....so what do they do? - all the while having management invite others to walk over them. There is absolutely no good part about being a Bartaco bartender except meeting good people behind the bar.

Pros

Fast paced Good to get experience at beginner level for bartending Good money learn a lot about the bar friendly staff/awesome staff meet lots of people and regulars

Cons

a lot of labor for bartending if someone on team slacks, the burden is heavy on the rest of the bar team, especially with bar prep throughout the week there has been a lot of frustration with how many bartenders they put in during shifts tip pool whole day, so bartenders during day take money that was made during night time most guests like to sit at tables\ servers make more money than the bartenders and they do way less work
