      Company Thrives at Expense of Employees - Marketing Specialist Bastian Solutions Employee Review

      Pros

      Relatively stable and just got bought out by Toyota so there's light at the end of the tunnel...? Big dollar company.

      Cons

      Selfish management who is willing to screw over their employees for their own benefit. Before the buyout in February of 2017, they bought back all the stock owned by employees at the price it was 4 years ago, not the current valuation. This rendered many employees hundreds, thousands, and in some cases around a million dollars of loss at the buyout while management walks around boasting about the European vacation they're going to take their kids on and the sports car they have their eye on. They're willing to keep people who provide absolutely no value to the company in order to save face or because Daddy's on the board while they terminate employees who have worked hard their entire career there. This "family-owned" company that prided itself on its values must only value selfishness and greed. I've never been so happy that I am not apart of a company.

      We are very excited about our acquisition by Toyota. They are a great company and are committed to maintaining our culture. The decision to replace the employee stock plan with a flexible service appreciation award was made 2014 which is 3 years before Toyota acquired Bastian Solutions; and at a time where there was no intention to sell the company. The stock appreciation plan mentioned within this review was a very rigid government restricted program and did not allow flexible earnings which was burdensome to hundreds of participants. The new service award plan provides an on the spot cash bonus to those who have committed years of service to our company, without the mandatory 409A regulations. This new service award plan has been very popular for the vast majority of all Bastian Solutions employees.

      Good for gaining experience Free Snacks Gain one more day of vacation each year you work there

      Goodness, the nepotism and favoritism of this place is crazy. CEO's daughter is allowed to work remote from Michigan while the rest of her team is forced to be in the office in Carmel. Management is a good old boys club. Has the attitude that you should be available 24-7 for work or overtime compensation or flex time. When challenged they said "That's what I had to do back in the day" like a typical boomer. Slowly has rolled back all benefits and perks of being in person in the office. I once had a dentist appointment and was asked if I cpuld just take it on my lunch break instead of working from home for the afternoon and taking it right after work. At times feels like a sitcom for a cookie cutter toxic office
