I always imagined I’d spend my entire career in the classroom. I worked hard to become a teacher and thoroughly enjoyed the role. However, in 2024, some unexpected health challenges forced me to step away. It was an incredibly difficult and emotional time. Leaving the classroom was a heartbreaking decision, and I found it incredibly hard to come to terms with it - for a long while, I honestly doubted I’d ever find another role that felt as meaningful or fulfilling as teaching. When I began looking for a role that would allow me to work from home while staying connected to education and SEND, I was thrilled to come across the coaching position at BeReady. It honestly felt too good to be true - a role that perfectly aligned with my skills and experience, allowed me to keep making a meaningful impact in education, and offered the flexibility of working remotely. From the very first interview, I was met with genuine warmth and sincerity. Paula and Claire were not only welcoming and open, but genuine in their approach. It didn’t feel like a typical interview -it felt more like a meaningful conversation between professionals who shared similar values and experiences. They took a real interest in me as a person, and not just in my CV. I came away energised and excited - and I was thrilled to get the call with an offer only a few days later. That same authenticity has been consistent throughout my journey. I completed my training in Manchester with Kathy and Claire, who were just as supportive, engaging, and down-to-earth. BeReady’s cohort-based training means you’re immediately part of a community - a group of people learning together, sharing experiences, and building strong, lasting connections. Once I was home, my equipment arrived quickly and was easy to set up. Tech support was readily available and incredibly responsive whenever I needed help. I was welcomed into a team led by Gemma, who has been nothing short of amazing - supportive, thoughtful, and consistently approachable. Within the wider delivery team, we’re grouped into smaller mini-teams, which means there’s always someone nearby to offer guidance or simply catch up for a chat. My day-to-day work is both varied and fulfilling. The caseload is manageable, I have full autonomy when scheduling my day, and I feel consistently supported in staying on top of it. I have regular check-ins with my senior, and the learner engagement team is always on hand to help with any challenges that arise beyond my remit. There are clear, well-structured systems in place for just about everything - and if I ever need support, I always know exactly where to turn, with someone ready and willing to help. The company is committed to relevant CPD, ensuring best practice, and offers a wide range of additional benefits - from wellbeing initiatives and optional clubs to regular opportunities for collaboration and a strong culture of open, constructive feedback. Participation is always encouraged but never pressured, which creates a space where people feel both respected and empowered. The delivery team culture is genuinely one of the best I’ve ever experienced - warm, welcoming, and truly collaborative. I absolutely love what I do and feel incredibly fortunate to work in an environment that values my skills, supports my wellbeing, and actively invests in my professional growth. I can honestly say I’ve never felt as happy in a job as I do at BeReady. I’m incredibly grateful to remain part of the education world in such a meaningful, supported, and fulfilling way. Even if I woke up tomorrow with all my health challenges resolved, I wouldn’t return to the classroom - the role is genuinely that fulfilling.

Cons

No company is perfect - and to their credit, BeReady has never claimed to be. In fact, leadership is refreshingly open about the fact that we’re always learning, growing, and evolving. What sets BeReady apart is its genuine commitment to feedback and continuous improvement. Because of this, I’ve honestly struggled to come up with any real “cons” - any challenges that do arise are met with openness, support, and a clear willingness to make things better. If I had to choose a con, I’d say that I sometimes find the fast pace of change a lot to digest. It’s an exciting and dynamic environment, but for neurodivergent employees like myself, it can occasionally feel overwhelming. However, it is really important to add that I’ve always felt fully supported throughout these transitions. My senior consistently checks in when systems or processes change, and I’m given the extra time and space I need to adjust. There’s a strong culture of empathy and understanding. I know I can ask for clarification as many times as needed. If I make a mistake, the response is always, “No problem - let’s sort it together.” There’s absolutely no blame, only support. So while I may find the pace of change challenging at times, I’m reassured knowing there are systems in place to help me navigate it. Any potential issue can be addressed, as long as we're willing to speak up and ask for support. Having autonomy and being trusted as a professional also means having the confidence to speak up. BeReady creates an environment where that’s not only possible, but encouraged. Any minor challenges I’ve faced have been met with practical solutions and genuine support. I’ve never felt alone in dealing with them. In fact, I hesitate to call them “cons” at all, because they’re always approached constructively and have never taken away from how positive my overall experience has been.

Pros

I genuinely feel lucky to work here. From day one, I felt supported by the entire delivery team – from my Senior Skills Coach and Team Leader right through to the Head of Delivery. It’s a really friendly, collaborative culture, and even though we work remotely, it never feels like you’re on your own. We’re trusted to manage our own caseloads and have the autonomy to tailor support for our learners, which makes a huge difference. There’s also a fantastic Learner Engagement Team who step in with specialist support when needed, which takes the pressure off and ensures learners get what they need. There are regular rewards too – every month three Skills Coaches are recognised with a generous Amazon voucher for going above and beyond, which really boosts morale. Equipment and IT support are spot on, and there’s a genuine drive to keep improving things – whether that’s through new resources, smarter tools, or better systems for learners and staff. What stands out most is the leadership – human, approachable, and open. You’re never made to feel silly for asking questions or suggesting something new. Even meeting the MD in the first week is such a thoughtful touch.

Cons

The only downside is a very small minority in the team who seem set on seeing the negative in everything – it doesn’t reflect the wider culture, but it can bring the mood down. Honestly, it’s a great place to work – and if people don’t recognise that, they’re probably better off elsewhere.
