Pros

week long induction training programme gives great overall knowledge and further training courses further that knowledge.

Cons

Forced Christmas overtime broke working regulations, what was offered in terms of days off (one weekend per 4-6 weeks) was not put into practice. In the 6 months i was with the company i did not have a weekend off. you are expected to pull customers in from outside the windows and hard sell with items they do not necessarily want. The general training attitude to this was we are giving good service by doing this. during interview i said i do not want to work for a company that is commission based as it creates a ruthless environment between staff and encourages pushy selling to which i was told it is not commission based. however upon starting i discovered that although they do not call it commission, if you reach your monthly target you get a percentage as a bonus. this to me is commission. i think a great example of this was in my leaving interview to which i was told it was nothing personal, i was just too nice.

Pros

Higher up management are amazing and care about employees, its not just talk with Beaverbrooks. They go above and beyond to support their staff. You will get the best customer service training ever! They are VERY fair with payment and rewards. Everyone is treated the same in regards to role and money. No negotiations, which I like, it shows we are equally valued. Bonus if you beat your targets for each financial quarter They celebrate success which is always great HR take allegations very seriously, everyone is heard and they are fair. They prosecute thieves, its not just talk. They wont allow customers to speak to you like garbage, you always have the right to ask someone to leave if they are being abusive. You get the best training in gems and metals to a certified level.

Cons

Only issue is sometimes the "customer is right" was very demoralising when you would stick to your guns when a customer complained about something, and even management agree, but for the sake of people pleasing, head office would often still give out "sorry's" and vouchers to not so nice or deserving people just to keep the peace. As with any job you wont always get along with everyone all the time.
