Pros

Behavioral based treatment approach, get to work with kids,

Cons

Owners micro-manage everything, promise raises and bonuses but rarely give them, pay is way lower than the industry average, owners talk negatively about staff who have left- even those who did a lot for their organization and left on good terms, lots of empty promises and morale issues, lots of turnover, keep piling on additional work and responsibilities without additional compensation

Pros

Behaven really works hard to listen to their staff. They offer a lot of transparency in conversations and has an open door policy. I feel heard, validated and appreciated all the time

Cons

The ABA industry in general is challenging, but Behaven has worked really hard to navigate those challenges with grace

Pros

It was good for a couple months while a BCBA was running things.

Cons

I was hired to address training systems within the company. My role was literally director of clinical TRAINING. I spent about 2% of my time on training activities and the rest doing caseload management, something I could not have been clearer during interviewing and onboarding that I was not looking for. Senior management doesn't include any clinical professionals and it's clear they don't understand the ABA industry. Their expectations and plans are unachievable (like trying to onboard 40 new clients in less than 6 months, but forgetting to hire any additional BCBAs first, keeping in mind that they currently have 3 BCBAs across 4 clinic sites with full caseloads, and they're unhealthily reliant on part-time fully remote contract-based BCBAs), but you'll be treated as though it's your fault when you can't succeed. Forget about communication or clarity or even a response to a question. They don't want help or feedback to improve - they've already sniffed their own farts enough to decide they don't need that kind of thing. They're making a string of short-sighted, profit-motivated decisions because they're in "financial survival mode." It's red flag city. AVOID.
