Pros
Working with children and seeing them progress daily.
Cons
Inadequate Training: They assign you to a client and expect you to know how to run a program even though job posting states no experience required and training is provided. Avoidant Superiors: Lead Therapist would never speak directly to me. She communicated through sticky notes. Supervisors tend to be condescending. Lack of Culture: Therapists discussed their dating lives and menstrual cycles, and isolated those who didn't participate in those conversations. Was told we should not add parents to social media, yet multiple people in my room were following clients' parents on Facebook. Was uncomfortable listening to people talk about attractive dads. Sick days: Most of my employment days were spent with a cold and taking medicine all day. Spent one day actually regurgitating and coughing excessively. No support for new staff: Therapists from other classrooms will watch you struggle and ignore when you ask for assistance with a client.
