Pros

Berkeley Humane is a wonderful organization to work for. Employees are invested in the well-being of animals, the long term advancement of animal welfare, and go above and beyond to accomplish more than is possible with the limited resources. Berkeley Humane's Executive Director Jeffrey Zerwekh provides great leadership overall, and works tirelessly to ensure the organization's success. Staff are challenged in a positive and encouraging way, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. The organization as a whole constantly evaluates the needs of the community, and makes tireless efforts to provide more resources and become more efficient in order to better contribute to animals and the pet owners of the community.

Cons

As with all small non-profit organizations, the lack of funding is a constant challenge. Despite the organization's best intentions and tireless efforts, the reality is that the amount spent on helping animals and on salaries is directly influenced by the amount of funding the organization is able to raise. The leadership team is perpetually working on improving this and is heading in the right direction.

Pros

animals animals animals the feeling of being able to help animals as your job working with other people who care about animals

Cons

the executive director has his own views on what the company needs and it was hard to get my viewpoint acknowledged, let alone considered. the pay is fair but low for the amount of work expected not remote friendly, even when the work could be done remotely just fine
