Pros

Great first job, especially in high school. You are able to develop some good customer service skills with the constant flow of cutomers.

Cons

Pay is a bit low, but considering the work, it is reasonable.

Pros

The staff was very friendly, not only to myself, but the customers as well. Training was quick and simple, because the responsibilities were very easy to handle. After training, I was scheduled for a stress test where I worked with a shift leader during an actual shift to see if I could handle it. The perks of becoming an employee is that you get a discount on any purchase in the store. Tips were also given to the employees. Promotions were given out every 3 or 4 months.

Cons

Something I didn't like about working at Berry Cup is that it is more of a seasonal shop. When business is slow, there is no reason for more than 1 person to be working there at a time, so you could actually lose hours. Another thing is that although you get a discount on purchases, the discount pretty much excludes only tax. The thing about promotions is that there really aren't that many positions to be promoted to. If you are a new team member, the highest promotion you could receive would be shift leader and even then, you only get an extra dollar or two added to your paycheck. Lastly, you get paid in cash, so if you are a shopaholic i suggest you find a job where you won't be tempted to spend the cash you just received.

Pros

The job is at the center of Rockville, so it's very accessible. The job does not require any thinking, you clean, cut fruit, and set up shop. That's it.

Cons

Where do I start? By the way, ignore the reviews before 2016. Berry Cup has new management and in my opinion, and some of the other employee's I've worked with opinion, they're a lot worse. Firstly, the availability they expect from you is absolutely ridiculous. They expect employees to "work at least three days at weekdays and available most of the weekend." That's at least 4 days they expect you to work a week. Keep in mind, the people who apply to this job are high school and college students who do not have that amount of time on their hands. Secondly, laptops, homework, cellphones, and other personal business are not allowed, even when there's nothing to do in the store. I've been to multiple dessert stores in Rockville, and all of the ones I've been to allow their employees to at least do their homework. This may not seem bad, but trust me, there's going to be many instances when there's nothing to do in the store. Once again, this displays ignorance on the management's part about the type of people they're hiring: students. Next if you're working alone, you DO NOT get breaks. It doesn't matter if you're working 6 hours or more, if you're alone, you don't get a break, not even for 15 minutes. And you'll work alone a lot, especially on weekdays. In every other job I've had, it was a requirement that if you worked 6 hours you would get at least a 15 minute break. So you better make sure you have a hearty breakfast, because your next meal ain't coming for a while. Also, there are cameras in the store. That's good right; for safety? WRONG. They use them constantly to monitor and micromanage everything you're doing. I felt like I wasbeing watched and scrutinized the entire time I was working, other employees felt this way too. I can't tell you how many times management called employees up and ordered us to do things we already knew we had to do. One time they called me up while I was ringing up a customer at the cash register and told me I had to something. HOW. I'm busy operating the cash register! Management is extremely incompetent in my opinion. They hardly ever texted me back when I had concerns , and when they did, it was days later or they had be reminded. They were terrible when it came to scheduling. They screwed up mine and another employee's schedule THREE times despite being texted and told multiple times what our availability was. One of the owners actually got frustrated at one of the employees for a scheduling conflict, despite it being the owner's fault! Also, I felt like I was on call. For instance, I was scheduled to work one day, so I cancelled all plans I had for that day. That day I was supposed to work, I'm texted by the owner telling me I didn't have to come in. The day of! This happened on multiple occasions. Incredibly frustrating. Lastly, with all this ruckus I had to deal with from management, I was paid only minimum wage. In my opinion, NOT worth it, do NOT recommend, STAY AWAY. You're better off applying to marble slab or Mr smoothie. P.S. They don't pay for your parking, and parking ain't cheap in town center. So you should probably tell mommy to drop you off.
