One of the biggest advantages of working at BetMGM was the unlimited PTO policy, which provided flexibility and supported a healthy work-life balance. The benefits package was competitive and included solid healthcare and retirement options. The company also offered employees the opportunity to gain experience in a rapidly growing industry and collaborate with teams across marketing, product, analytics, and operations.
Cons
While I gained valuable experience managing VIP customers and working cross-functionally with various departments, there were several challenges that impacted my overall experience.
Leadership often appeared disconnected from the day-to-day realities and challenges faced by frontline employees. Opportunities for advancement did not always feel transparent, and promotions sometimes appeared to be influenced more by personal relationships than by performance and results.
Career growth opportunities were limited, and internal promotions frequently came with compensation increases that did not reflect the additional responsibilities.
Management support varied significantly across teams. In my experience, communication, coaching, and employee development could have been stronger. Employees were often expected to navigate complex situations independently without receiving sufficient guidance or support.
Additionally, there appeared to be a lack of diversity within leadership positions, which limited representation and different perspectives at the management level.
Overall, BetMGM can be a good place to gain experience in the gaming industry, but there is room for improvement in leadership transparency, employee development, career progression, and compensation.
