Seems great at first - FSM Better Together (FL) Employee Review

Pros

Fulfilling work and good pay.

Cons

There's a lot of talk about culture for an organization with less than ideal culture. The leadership could be described as toxic and it trickles down into rest of organization. If an employee speaks up and asks for help or shares about potential issues, they are not listened to and are treated poorly for doing so. There's a high turnover rate and when people leave, only a few are bold enough to share the actual reasons they're leaving with leadership and HR.

Pros

While I am new to the Better Together team (joined in September 2024), I have followed BT since 2019 and had the opportunity to work alongside leadership during hurricane response in 2022 and 2023. This organization has a unique mission and sets itself apart from most nonprofits. The organization utilizes EOS to ensure strong accountability from the board down to frontline team members, to create a faith-based and supportive culture, and successful outcomes for families. The nature of the work is really hard because we serve very vulnerable families so it's not for everyone, but I have found my fellow team members and leadership to be very supportive of difficult cases and brainstorming and helping ensure a good work/life balance. Compared to many nonprofits the organize is financially sound and leadership is smart and driven to empower families!

Cons

It is a completely remote organization with no physical buildings so adjusting to a remote environment is a challenge for some. Working in any social services organization is hard and hours can go beyond the regular 8-5 hours but that is a part of working in social services. The organization does allow team members to adjust schedules to accommodate for hours worked at night and on weekends.
