Depressing place to work - Anonymous employee Big 5 Sporting Goods Employee Review

Pros

You get to work in a somewhat sports related environment. They are always hiring, and should hire you if you are somewhat competent or trustworthy.

Cons

Making your way up from a trainee is slow and boring. The pay will never be good, and you will have to work every single weekend, and work multiple nights per week. They do not care about your personal happiness in that you have to be available to work every shift every week. So you can never have consistent outside interests like taking a class, or playing on a softball team, etc.

Pros

Great vibes if you’re at the right store. Energetic energy that makes it fun to work in a sporting goods store

Cons

Regional management don’t care about you and will protect predatory managers who harass female workers
