Coworkers Were Great But Upper Management Wasn't the Best - Concept Artist BitLoft Employee Review

Pros

Bitloft "had" a great atmosphere for collaborating and making games. The culture truly was an inclusive one and I felt like my (and others") ideas were heard and taken into consideration. A great creative energy existed there and I felt like the core team had great chemistry. This is a good place to gain experience for those starting out in the creative industry, though not necessarily a place to gain a career since employee retention seems unpredictable at the moment.

Cons

Lack of transparency (towards the end) when it came to the direction of the company. I felt like upper management made a huge mistake after cutting the core part of the creative team towards the end (key project managers, content writers, engineers, etc...). I'm not talking about contractors necessarily, but rather full time staff in particular even though I was a contractor. When you let go of the heart of your team, what is your identity now?

Pros

Awesome team. Working on an interesting game. Company would fly you out for trips. Hours for contractors are flexible.

Cons

Heavily reliant on contractors. Chances of being converted to FTE is slim unless you have skills outside game development. Managers will not keep promises that were made to you. Upper management doesn't seem to come from game development as they make decisions that affect the project very negatively. You will get laid off via text.
