Pros
- Work with many talented and smart people who worked hard and joined to really make an impact - Great compensation and benefits - International environment in an excellent office space - Great working culture and unlimited potential until founders had to step down - Secure and advanced derivatives trading platform with very low fees and an industry-leading insurance fund
Cons
- New CEO had a great vision but was never hands-on to make it happen - New leadership's lack of understanding of the APAC market and working culture, which led to a huge disconnect and inability to motivate employees at the execution level - Leadership's blame culture when things don't work out after numerous alarm bells, never stepped in until it's too late. The solution to every "problem" was to fire rather than to examine their own lack of action and leadership - Lack of communication, alignment and transparency at the very top; constant change of priorities which led to minimal meaningful delivery - Horrible redundancy execution and a complete lack of care for employee wellbeing. Changed direction at the very last minute and allowed rumours to fester for weeks, causing unnecessary distress for many faithful and hardworking employees who decided to leave after the ordeal even if they were selected to stay - Kept all their buddies at the executive level even when there's been no discernable achievements and a proven track record of doing nothing - When almost every crypto firm in the world is expanding aggressively, Bitmex decides to cut 1/3 of its workforce, most of which are highly sought after talent on the market, enough said
