Pros

I worked at BRG for around 20 months. The office itself is bright, modern, and well-equipped, including a great coffee machine and comfortable facilities. Many of the entry-level staff are warm, pleasant, and helpful, which made day-to-day work enjoyable.

Cons

During my time there, I observed a high level of staff turnover, with approximately 31 people leaving over the 20-month period. Communication around difficult decisions was often abrupt and impersonal, and management processes sometimes felt inconsistent. While the company promotes values like integrity and that people are its greatest asset, in practice there appeared to be a gap between these stated values and how employees were treated.

Pros

A large proportion of the team members are fantastic - competent, knowledgeable, supportive and friendly which makes the fast-paced, high pressured working environment enjoyable. The work itself is niche and offers construction industry personnel a good introduction to the data centre industry.

Cons

The management structure is chaotic and archaic, with members of the SLT frequently flitting between different roles and departments. Promotion to senior management level is largely based on ‘fit’ in terms of accepting the antiquated approach to people culture, and adopting a ‘hard approach’. There was no people development structure during my time, with promotions and pay increase opportunities coming only as a result of threatening to leave. Weekend working is fully expecting by senior management without any conversation relating to remuneration being entertained.
