Amazing - Anonymous employee Blo/Out Employee Review

I Love being at Blo, I’ve worked for other competitors in the industry and feel that this company definitely offers room for growth to any individual who’s willing to work for it. I like that even though it’s a large corporation, it still that feels like a family environment and a small business as relegation locations are individually owned and operated. I don’t know if many corporations where I could say I’ve met the CEO and she remembers my name, and notices individuals in the company. I like the flexibility that comes from the shifts and love that I get to style and work of my craft daily, while still staying up to trends. I love the product line and the vendors we carry and that the company makes an effort to stay on trend with what’s popular in the industry. My Manager works really well with my schedule as long as I give her notice and if I have any issues I can go speak with her to talk through them one on one. Love that we have an opportunity to impact what we make hourly here with multiple ways to upsell/customize services per client. They listen to feedback and use it continue to stream line the future process! Also we get lunches most days, depending on how busy it is and if we can’t take a lunch my manager orders out for us for the most part. I worked for a competitor that didn’t give us time to eat and would sometimes guilt us for wanting to eat before taking another client, a 15 min break does wonders in the midst of an intensely booked day.

They use the word "coarse" a lot for anybody that isn't white. The pay is low. You might get $7.25 an hour plus $2.00 for every Blo out. If you do full service they pay you commission of 45%. Most of the stylist that are there don't make too much they have to pick up a job as a LYFT driver or only make enough to rent a room to live in with their boyfriend. The employees talk about men like dogs in heat. Most of them are on drugs. If you don't fit in with that its not a good place. They also try to get you to pay $100 fee to train with them which I didn't have to.
