Pros

The CTO is the only hope for this organization. The only decent executive/human-being they have.

Cons

Management are survey beggars that only care about perception and numbers on glassdoor - not reality. The incent (intimidate) employees to submit positive reviews here and elsewhere. Employees are oppressed, scared and paranoid. As long as they tell management how "great" BlueCat is, they may keep their pitiful jobs. Communication is solely based on gossip and hearsay from top-down and all around. This is an absolute amateur act lead by consummate hacks. I'm certain Madison Dearborn is taking a good hard look at what is going on here and I suspect they will make some sweeping adjustments.

BlueCat Response

Thank you for providing us with your very honest feedback. We are sorry that you felt your time at BlueCat was such a negative experience. We do in fact like to survey our employees. Mainly because we want their opinions on how we can be better at what we do. We survey our new hires on their 30, 60 and 90 days to ensure that they feel they are being provided the resources they need to be successful in their jobs. We survey employees who are leaving us to ensure we are collecting data around how we could do things differently. We survey our employees semi-annually to monitor their engagement levels and ensure that we are fostering an environment where they feel they are being supported and are connected to the business. Additionally, we regularly look to have the employees ask questions to the executives about the business at our all-hands meetings and we have regularly occurring “Lunches with the CEO” for all our employees during the year. We value our Glassdoor and Engagement survey feedback, and while I am saddened to hear that your experience did not live up to your expectations, our data shows that our employees feel appreciated, motivated and aligned to BlueCat’s vision with an over 80% engagement (world class) and a 4.2 rating on Glassdoor. Feel free to reach out to the People Team for further discussion.

Pros

Wellness days and flexible hours

Cons

This used to be a great place to work. It’s become toxic, especially for women. Female leaders and employees continue to disappear while external male hires are repeatedly prioritized over qualified internal candidates. Entire teams have been restructured in ways that disproportionately impacted women while men were promoted into those roles instead. HR is there to protect the company, not employees. Repeated complaints about the same people go nowhere, and concerns are routinely dismissed. Public humiliation, favoritism, retaliation, and demotions have become normalized. Long-tenured high performers are being pushed out and replaced by aggressive leadership styles that are destroying what was once a strong culture. If you value growth, support, or psychological safety, look elsewhere.
