Pros
I had the opportunity to work on some exciting, diverse projects with truly international reach whilst at BonFire IT. There's a really healthy focus on making a high quality products and on engineering solutions properly, a welcome change to some other places I've worked.
As a mobile tech lead, I was given a great deal of technical freedom to solve problems as I saw fit, and despite being a distributed team, there was a real cohesive team spirit; people went above and beyond because there was a sense of wanting to deliver the best for the customer, not just do the bare minimum to get by. Developer expertise is really valued here, which I know from experience is not always the case in this industry.
Healthy approach to work-life-balance too; never an issue when I said I was taking some personal time. Rigid 9-5 isn't expected, no micro-management, deliverables are all that matter. Modern thinking, asynchronous tools/comms makes for a flexible and fun environment to work within.
The business grew noticeable in the time I was there, even though it was a relatively short period of time, so I've no doubt the growth will continue going forward. Solid prospects.
Cons
Really, the only downside I can think of is if you're working remote, and not in the same timezone as the majority of the team (as I was), it can be a little lonely in the middle of the work day! Hardly a criticism though, especially if you're a developer who's happy to just get on with things at their own pace without being micromanaged.
