Pros

Most of the full-time staff were passionate, curious, and fun people to work with.

Cons

The culture here was extremely oppressive. When staff members would try to express ideas or opinions, they are often shot down by the management. There is a lack of cooperation, as staff were frequently told to 'stay in their lane' by the CEO, making it difficult to have cross-departmental conversations. The company's focus is largely on pageviews and social media sharing, however it is not monetized effectively, despite many suggestions by the marketing and sales teams to change the approach. Content teams are not given enough leeway to create original work, often being told to repackage successful pieces of content produced by other companies and platforms. This company's structure is currently only interns and one or two staff members, after all paid employees were laid off this past June.

This is from the previous iteration of Bookstr. It is under different management and different ownership. We are sorry that people had a bad experience.

Pros

Learning opportunities to prepare you for a full time job and equips you with necessary skills that apply to various fields. Great starting place for anyone wanting experience! Everyone is super friendly, helpful, and fun!

Cons

Sadly unpaid. (The currency is experience which is still important!)

Pros

Learning the behind the scenes of how a social media page runs. I enjoyed the collaborative environment, we were free to build ideas that we were interested in and get feedback from each other.

Cons

Unpaid, primarily for the experience
