Pros
An amazing work culture is the strongest pro- supervisors, and PIs are generally very accommodating of flexible work schedules and working remotely. Overall, it is a very chill option for a pre-med gap year job that pays decently for the effort. Pay isn't great, but definitely enough to survive in Boston and save a tiny percentage each month. Diversity is great.
Cons
Some PIs are verbally abusive (I wish I were exaggerating). There are a few PIs with a high level of turnover (1 new assistant each year or so) because they cannot work with subordinates on a human level at all (which is sad because that's pretty much the only major con).
