Pros

They do hire good and smart people.

Cons

Management is filled with corporate diplomats which keeps the highest level of management happy, but makes the people doing the actual work feel unsupported, unheard and not trusted. That also means that roadblocks stay where they are, or roadblocks are created by indecisive tendencies of upper management. While they hire good people, they don’t allow them to the the experts. There is also no clear strategy outside of launching more products. Because there is no clear direction, teams that have to support all of those launches are left to guess which launch is more important than the other. Other companies of this size publish their three-year strategic goals, Brady boasts about pumping more money into R&D without giving any clear roadmap of what they hope to achieve with that spend. Look at their quarterly earnings reports and fiscal kickoff releases and you can easily see that. Pay is low, so fight for a high salary going in because you won’t get good raises, and if you get a promotion there is a percentage cap on how much your raise can be. They did not handle covid well, people were shuffled to different areas to give the appearance of social distancing. I know it was uncharted territory but there was no transparency, no attempts to make decisions based employee concerns and really poor communication. While other companies had their employees start working from home well before the state’s requirement to do so, Brady employees were told we would be in the office and that even though schools were shut down, employees with children had to take vacation to stay home with them. We did work from home for a couple of months, but we returned fully to the office in June 2020. Then in November we were put on a work from home every other day schedule, which was again, to give the appearance of social distancing. We fully went back to office again at the beginning of April 2021 to a strict no work from home policy that isn’t written down anywhere, and apparently varies building to building. So if you’re in a position that you could work from anywhere, be prepared to take vacation days when your children are sick. Or if your manager ok’s a work from home scenario, you’ll be told you need to take vacation days for the days you worked from home should hr find out. They do ask the managers that are known to be the corporate diplomats to come on here and write good reviews, so take that into consideration when reading the 5 star ratings.
