Pros

Branch is an extremely fast paced start up environment. The best part about working at Branch is getting challenged and working with some really diligent and smart people.

Cons

Branch has always positioned itself as the amazing unicorn in Silicon Valley but the global retrenchment confirms this cannot be further from the truth. The organisation is absolutely not people oriented and has little empathy in the way they treat their employees. When COVID 19 started getting bad in US, the CEO was assuring everyone during all staff how Branch is so well funded that it is able to keep everyone employed till end of 2021 even with zero growth and that we all have nothing to worry about. However, the tone changed very quickly in 2 weeks when the management team starts showing us a bunch of charts on how the economy is going into a recession and it was swiftly followed by a global mass retrenchment exercise. Job reassignment and pay cuts were not taken into consideration. The retrenchment came in a very sudden manner with the Line Manager delivering the bad news in under 10 minutes and they proceeded to terminate your access the very minute the Zoom call ended. Word of caution to anyone considering joining Branch when perhaps they decide to start hiring again one day - Think again! You might just be better off at a larger, more established and well funded company.

When I started Branch, I wanted was to create a place where people have the chance to grow by being challenged with opportunities they wouldn't get anywhere else. While I'm sad to read this note and hear your impression of recent events, I am happy that you felt challenged while you were here. Now onto the recent reduction in force and your experience: I understand where you come from - it was an incredibly hard experience for everyone, but most of all for those affected - I am truly sorry. Across the economy, every company from early stage startup, to fast growing unicorn, to large public company are all taking similar action to Branch and my heart goes out to all affected. Certainly, if we could have anticipated this economic downturn, we certainly wouldn't created plans to grow the company for as much as we had before. I wish I could have predicted the future. Ultimately, as a growing company, our job is to remain nimble so that we can deliver continued and reliable service to our customers and further our mission to solve app discovery. We couldn't be absolutely certain how long the economy would be frozen, and so we had to take dramatic action to ensure Branch could survive even the worst of the upcoming few years. If things change and our predictions were more severe than reality, we will definitely be reaching out to those affected to try to hire them back. We're all hoping that things recover quickly. In the meantime, I hope you'll take advantage of the resources we've enabled to help you in this transition.

Thank you so much for the positive review! However, this may be intended for a different Branch as we don't have employees in MN and we do have a 401k with a generous match. If you need help getting enrolled in the 401k, please reach out to the People Team and we are happy to help. If you don't work with Branch Metrics, I would recommend moving the review so the correct Branch can see that you're having a great experience!

Pros

Good, helpful and friendly colleagues.

Cons

While the day-to-day team members are incredibly talented, hardworking, and supportive, the overall company culture suffers due to upper management.
