University leadership and bureaucracy have created challenges such as layoffs of staff, staff are not valued and treated as disposable, low pay compared to other universities and non-profits, speaking to other research staff they have not gotten raises in years (annual increase used to be cost of living adjustments, now they are merit increases and do not necessarily keep up with cost of living).
