Pros
coffee shop on campus
few friendly colleagues
Cons
Lies. Many lies. Get everything in writing.
Retaliatory actions that are supported by administration.
No faculty governance.
Singular focus on sports and not academics.
Poorly funded majors.
Not ADA compliant.
Few people in control of the entire college and its future projections.
POOR salaries. Expect less than $45,000 starting WITH PhD in hand as of 2025. Many faculty use their spouses incomes to subsidize the college.
Disrespectful leadership.
NOT family friendly even though they claim to be.
Culture is one of fear with faculty - even those tenured - afraid to speak up!
Very complacent with unwillingness to improve or change old and outdated institutional practices.
There is a faculty handbook that no one follows and they do not abide by the policies listed in the handbook and claim "that's not how it is now" when they feel like it.
Most policies are not written down making it easy for leadership to make them up in the spot which leads to confusion, slow processes, and different steps being given depending on the department.
Favoritism given to certain professors for access to on-campus housing. This is a huge issue with such poor salaries in an extremely costly housing market. Most faculty commute over 1 hour.
NO connections with the surrounding town and community. The college exists as an island and really does nothing to support or encourage community engagement.
