Pros

Work whenever you want within business hours of time zone you are calling. Easy. It’s cold calling, not rocket science. Pay is ok considering one doesn’t need to put on a bra to do it. No micromanaging. Have never had trouble taking time off. Auto dialer is a big upgrade from our old lists. Pay is always on time.

Cons

Apparent lack of intelligence in ops and team lead. Team lead doesn’t always fully read email before replying (in three years this has happened several times. He will reply something that I’ve already addressed in my initial email). But again, this is cold calling, not rocket science. Ops can be aggressive. There was a system issue that put me a day behind. When I told them I wouldn’t be able to finish my project they acted flabbergasted as they gave me three whole extra hours to do it on Friday. Yo, this is a part time job that I usually just do the minimum hours for, you gotta understand the rest of my week is full of fun and exciting things already. It would be nice if we could edit call info. So much of it is out of date. Scripts aren’t well written- I usually make it my own because if it takes three minutes to introduce yourself, they aren’t going to listen. I have to wonder about the previous experience of the powers that be. Often they are riddled with grammatical errors.

Pros

You get to work at home No set schedule

Cons

Micromanagement from "ops" team Outdated system Garbage leads I was let go from Brighten after only working for them a week. Their reason for letting me go was "not fulfilling their expectations" but honestly, how am I supposed to set appointments and obtain leads when businesses are shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic?? Operations team is very cutthroat and does not care about this. All they care about is numbers, not that people are dying out there and businesses are shutting down. They would call me out for dumb mistakes such as not spelling out email addresses and names to the prospects but would actually give compliments such as saying I sounded professional on the phone and repeatedly told me I was doing a good job. Then, I get an email from my team leader saying that Ops has decided to terminate my contract. I have nothing against him as he was very pleasant and understanding of the circumstances. He even tried to save my contract but was turned down by Ops. My advice is, do not join this company unless you are okay with being treated as another number and not a human being. I joined Brighten as a way to make some extra income during this time, so it wasn't a big loss for me. Still, the manner that I was let go and the practices of this company are extremely unethical.
