Pros
-Central office in Mitte with an impressive view -Really nice colleagues and general team spirit -Cool product idea -Regular company and team retros with nice events
Cons
-Inconsistent and frustrating communication by management. -It's a one-man-show, and all decisions are made by one person resulting in a bottle neck. Micromanagement is normal, and meetings are often spent discussing things outside their scope and well beyond their time. You often come out of a meeting with more questions than answers. -Decision making drags on without ever committing to anything, the same issues get discussed again and again without reaching a solution. -Expectations are very poorly or not communicated. -I often felt gaslighted. What was said one day is changed the next, without admitting it. Honestly, this turned out to be the worst job experience of my life. My role was the first of its kind, and I started with no communication of expectations, constantly changing requirements, and was given responsibilities well out of my job description, but I went along with it, since hey it’s a startup. After several rounds of good feedback, I was let go on the very last day of probation with no warning (which they admittedly tried to make up for). To make matters worse, the post-termination experience was somehow even worse, with sending incorrect information to the Agency for Work that resulted in delay of payments, and the cherry on top was when they demanded I pay back hundreds of euros due to 'accounting errors' which was an error in itself (they later apologized for but wasted months of my life and was honestly traumatic). That said, I believe that depending on the position, you could still find good growth opportunities. Just be aware of the issues.
