Pros

The good thing is that there isn't much on-call for developers and the hours aren't horrible.

Cons

There have been seven developers leave in 2 months. 65% of development resources are being allocated to a part of the system written in 20 year old code written in classic asp and vb6 with a backend that consist of sql server 2005 running in 2003 compatibility mode. The system is built on 20 years of patches. Some managers treat developers like children. They go off in uncontrolled fits yelling and cursing at developers...slamming keyboards and in a constant state of hating everything. The morale here is the lowest of a development department I've seen in my 15 years of development. There appears to be a mass exodus of development talent that seems to be just beginning. They are using off shore development resources from Vietnam and some off shore teams from India that most in the development department aren't aware of because they are trying to keep it hush hush and for good reason.

It is unfortunate you felt you were not treated with respect. We wish you had shared your concerns with leaders in the organization who could have helped. Turnover is not as you represent – but as with most companies in the technology space, we do see movement of “high demand” employees. We did lose 3 developers for valid reasons, but not 7 you mention. The “code base” you referred to was inherited through a strategic acquisition 2 years ago and the allocation of resources you mentioned should refer to the entire product suite. Not the “old code.” In fact, the majority of the effort is focused on modernizing this product suite. Late last year we released the first native iPad point-of-care app to industry. Early this year we introduced a new Private Duty module. All of these products are built with leading edge tools on modern platforms. By the end of 2016 the entire suite we inherited will be substantially rebuilt. Of course while this transition is occuring we must maintain the old code and allow our customers a reasonable amount of time to migrate to the new. And for the record, we do not have developers in India. Thanks for your feedback

Pros

Work from home and one a cent increase towards the end of the year not a dollar but cents

Cons

It has become about hitting sales than actually fixing the internal issues within the company no it’s not a sales job but they actually give you a number that you must uphold and make everytime your on call so everytime a patient say no to supplies it’s like they want you to forcefully harass them on call and state the reason on why they should order never mind that folks in this economy on living to paycheck, can’t afford their insurance payment, or are out of job still don’t matter you have to make sure to let them know why it’s important to order plus with them not being able to keep people they have their offer overtime everyday while policing PTO it’s ridiculous handbook say you have two weeks in advance but since they can’t retain enough people now it’s gotten to the point t you must request PTO a month sometimes even three months you’ll either get denied or approve for partial which in your place on a waitlist it’s crazy sometimes I need mental days off cause this job does take you there especially with the rude callers and dumbfounding management also there’s no room to advance only way is to be a team leader and that’s the only way to get advanced other than that if you don’t wanna be a team leader, you’re stuck being in the same role that you were when you first got hired which sucks
