Pros

Make a little cash until you find a better job. You gain a little bit of credibility in low-voltage and cable/telecommunications, that could possibly land you a better job.

Cons

My current manager is a complete jerk, he is rude to all the employees even the lead techs. A lot of the tools are old and in horrible condition. So, once they finally see their last day, he blames you. And says he'll charge you for damaging the equipment. They take 10% out of each check to a total of $500 as a tool deposit. But, you don't have any tools actually assigned to you. The "tool boxes" and tablets are assigned to each truck. And You can be in a different truck everyday. So how are you really suppose to know who broke what? And must I also mention that not each tool box has a complete set of tools. Some are missing certain keys to open ground peds. So, you have to call the manager to tell him you can't do the job and of course it's your fault. All because they are unorganized and under equipped. They want you to collect all the equipment you can and do the discos as safe and by the books and still meet the required jobs per hour. Which is not possible. Every morning I get a call because after my last job, it took an hour for the lead tech to check me out. And they feel they don't need to pay me for that hour of "no work". One thing that really ticks me off is that they "require" me to call (with my personal phone) dispatch and sometimes the company that we are contractors for. which could take 30 minutes and times. You don't pay my phone bill, you don't reimburse me, that doesn't work for me. They say you'll make on average of $11-$16 an hour, that's with your hourly wage and commission added together. You make commission by collecting payments, $5 each payment collected, regardless of the amount of the payment collected. And $5 or $2 per receiver/modem depending on the type of receiver/modem. I don't know where they got these statistics from. Out of 30 houses, I would say.. 5 customers answer the door and usually have an average 1-3 pieces of equipment. so that is nowhere near averaging out to $11-$16 an hour. I'm making $9 an hour here. Yet i'm making $200 less a week compared to my last job where I was making $8.00, plus commission.....

Pros

lots of hours and late nights but if you are an adrenaline junkie and like making lots of commission and meeting lots of people this is great job . if you are lame and 8-5 lunchbox Billy type this is not the job for you .

Cons

you work a lot of Saturdays so if you love NCAA College Football you get to miss a lot of games but it is really flexible so can not really call it a con .

Pros

Independently work, minimal supervision, great supervisors (Clermont Office), 3 day work week. Discounted cable services

Cons

No raises ever,Long Days, Mangagement sell you on a false job description. They make you sell you on "you'll make good bonus on commission for picking up equipment" after completing the disco route, you'll try to collect payments (tag route) on unpaid accounts. I was told I'd tag approx 15-20 homes, then we'd receive a equipment collection route (box route). I worked hard for this company and in 15months I might of received a box route once every month. Say they are family minded company, which I've come to understand isn't true. They only value profit. Based upon my personal dealing. I was a one of the best techs at our office, I offered them to stay if we'd come to an understanding that I could be back at the office by 7pm ( I wanted to spend time with my family each night) and that I would receive a box route once a week after my disco route was complete. This was declined by management. Positive reviews are never kept just negative ones. Unless you absolutely need a job, I'd look elsewhere, or at the very lest be looking elsewhere while you work here.
