Pros
Salary is higher than most nonprofits, there are some incredible employers in direct client services who unfortunately are not properly recognized for their amazing efforts. Direct service staff has an incredible understanding of the struggles of their clients, mint of these staff have faced similar circumstances.
Cons
Although there is technically lots of opportunity for moving up at this agency, it's only a matter of time before you find out advancement is only reserved for "certain qualified" professionals, which is an unfortunate attempt to justify cherry picking who is allowed to move forward. This isn't actually based on ability or credentials. There are also a lot of mangers here who are just trying to advance on their careers though working with clients they can't relate to. This agency will also take disciplinary action against you without informing you which will effect your ability to transfer departments and/or get promoted later on.
