Pros
Pay Rate Clean Restrooms A/C
Cons
Micro-management is an understatement - they will wait for you outside the restrooms and time how long you're inside even if it is your mandated break. Not a single coherent standard set by any management - so it's luck of the draw if you get it right. Imagine getting pulled into the office because you noticed an entire rack of popcorn was expired and foolishly asked what should be done about it. You cannot stand still and you cannot do too much - if you stand still there's always something you should be doing. If you choose to do something, you will be asked why you are not focusing on customers. Multiple times I swept or restocked bags during lulls and was asked to not do that unless a team lead told me to do so. Any one over 22 is treated with suspicion - they favor young people to the point that it's a little puzzling as the older folks do not call out and do not cause the intense culture of gossip that permeates every store. That and the old folks don't do the dead fish eye stare as the default when talking to someone face to face. It was uncomfortable as a coworker let alone a customer. All good employees leave and it's not a surprise when they do. Value extraction is the only thing you can do here and if you meet someone who has been there long term talk to them as little as possible. They are not your friends, they do not have your best interests at heart, and while that is standard advice for any White Collar Corporation it's so weird to see it on steroids at a glorified gas station. Because real talk. This is a gas station? In, out, clean. But to have this level of toxicity is insane. If you do choose to work here - Say Less at every opportunity and always, always, ALWAYS be looking for another job with better pay.
