The pay for the job is simply not worth it, additionally there's a high turnover rate and no amount of hiring is going to fix it with such poor pay. The management is awful at scheduling, to the point where it needs multiple corrections and can affect pay. Since the store is so small there's no real room for advancement either. According to contract you can't discuss your compensation, meaning your wage, which isn't enforceable at best or legal at worst.
